What is a Bendi Forklift?
Bendi is a brand that manufactures articulated forklifts designed to be used in environments that require narrow aisle access as small as 1.6m. They are a pivot steer forklift that allows the operator to load / unload items from both a front and side angle. They allow warehouses to maximise space. Whilst they share the same inherent design as a traditional counterbalance forklift, they have a bend in the middle which allows the forks to be repositioned based on the requirements. It is a specialist machine that requires added training to ensure the driver can operate the unit safely.
Is pivot steer same as Bendi?
Yes, pivot steer is the same as a Bendi forklift. Bendi is infact the manufacturers brand name. Just like Hoover is the name used for vacuum cleaners, Bendi the brand name is also used in the industry to describe the type of forklift it is. For example, warehouse managers will place recruitment adverts to hire a Bendi forklift driver rather than requesting a pivot steer forklift driver.
How Much Does a Bendi Forklift Weigh?
The unladen weight of a Bendi forklift (including the removal of the battery) varies dependant on the model. Most range between 5700kg – 6300kg. A Bendi battery tends to weigh around 1200kg. The unladen weight of a Bendi forklift will impact the maximum lift capacity of the forklift. For example a Bendi B318 has an unladen weight of 5700kg and has a maximum lift capcity of 1800kg whereas a Bendi BE420 has an unladen weight of 6300kg and has an increased maximum lift capacity of 2000kg.
Where are Bendi Forklifts Made?
Bendi forklifts are manufactured in Redditch, Worcester. They are a top of the line pivot steer forklift (otherwise referred to as VNA forklifts or articulated forklifts) that have been manufactured since 1964.
Do You Require a Specific Licence to Drive a Bendi Forklift?
To drive a Bendi forklift you will need to go on a specific course for pivot steer forklifts. There are multiple courses available including courses for complete novices through to refresher courses for experienced operators.
